sevva – let them eat cake!

continuing the sweet and classy journey at sevva!

berries of the woods, rose petal coulis on vanilla bean panna cotta. ($130 hkd) wasn’t as pretty as what i’d imagined… thought there should be a few pieces of pinkish red rose petals? love those fat fresh berries! and see those teeeeny tiny vanilla beans scattering all over the place?! love the strong natural vanilla aroma! (those artificial ones really displease me a lot!) texture-wise, hmmm its incredibly smooth BUT, i thought panna cotta should be more pudding-like instead of liquid-like?

symphony choc bowl of fresh fruits & pear bavarois. ($125 hkd) WHOOOOAA! was totally fascinated by its amazing presentation! not an outstanding dessert, but I guess it can’t go any wrong with fresh berries, chocolate and cream, can it?

milk tea ice-cream with caramel crunch & ginger bread. ($130 hkd) i’m always a GREAT fan of milk tea! and this SURELY didn’t disappoint me! that rich and lingering flavor of milk tea… AHHHH! this was heavenly! each spoonful was SOOO satisfying!! their homemade caramel toffee crunch and ginger bread were nice as well! but didn’t really match with the ice-cream…

and here comes THE ROYAALS! *screaming* the MOST stunning and fanciful cakes ever! tell me how can i NOT love you at first sight!!

marie-antoinette’s crave. ($450 hkd) colourful macarons attaching to pistachio chiffon with cream and raspberries, adorned with hundreds of pretty sugar dragees and crowned with PINK COTTON CANDY *yaaay*! cake was SOOO soft and fluffy! and cream was pretty light and fresh!

le louis. ($450 hkd) chocolate chiffon with whipped french cream and blackberries, decorated with marshmallow and sugar dragees and crowned with BABY BLUE COTTON CANDY! sadly and truly, sometimes looking good doesn’t mean you will have a pretty soul… (if you know what i mean! and this applies to BOTH beautiful cakes. but trust me, it wasn’t really THAT bad anyway.)

this swanky posh comfy place, will always be one of my all time favourite spot for chillaxing!

sevva – wanna be the supremely classy high society?

if people ask me where’s my most favourite and frequent place i go for afternoon tea in town, i would definitely say THIS PLACE! i’m totally IN LOVE with this rooftop bar, serving extravagant delicacy, providing a range of drinks, having an impeccable and stunning view, overlooking the heart of central and the victoria harbour. so comfy, so chic, so elegant, so posh…

signature tea set. ($680 hkd for 2) i’m probably sure this is the MOST expensive tea set in hong kong. so what’s the craze for this? the toasted crumpet with smoked salmon & chive cream cheese, crab meat burger and short rib burger were my favourite ones among the savory choices. as for the sweet tier, the carrot cake TOTALLY stood out! cake was so moist and went well with the velvety cream cheese on top! then, was it WORTH the price? hmmm overall the food quality was above average and the service was satisfactory and of course, EXCELLENT ambiance. what MORE can I ask for?

besides their tea set, sevva offers an incredibly scrummy selection of cakes served by ms. b’s.

ginger cheese cake. ($140 hkd) crumbled into pieces when i forked in it… whoooops! shouldn’t cheese cake be smooth and creamy? flavor-wise, it was ALRIGHT, with a hint of ginger taste.

chocolate fudge cake with marmalade. ($140 hkd) the cake was a bit dry, plus i’ve never like the combination of chocolate with orange…

the original crunch cake. ($135 hkd) soft fluffy vanilla chiffon sponge cake with ridiculously light and pillowy fresh cream and pieces of house-special homemade caramel toffee crunch! BEEEEST crunch cake ever in town!

lemon meringue. ($135 hkd) AHHHH! another must order item again! love the layers of crunchy lemon meringue in between layers of fresh cream! how can i ever resist this! i’m a sucker for anything in lemon… this was DIVINE! #FTW

more temptations from sevva coming up in my next post!

stockton – the secret cocktail paradise!

‘TGIF! any awesome places for a quick drink after lectures and work?’ ‘hmm hey! stockton, shall we?’

can never imagine this WELL hidden place (literally well hidden) behind a BLACK mysterious entrance in somewhere at lan kwai fong serves a variety of excellent and UNIQUE whisky-based cocktails (and of course, delish bar food as well!)

brass monkey – HM king, compressed citrus, maca, lucuma, vanilla gum, chuncho bitters. ($150 hkd) if you are looking for something CITRUSY, go for this! well-balanced flavour, more on the subtle side and gave a gentle mouthfeel. nicely done!

cracked mud crab. ($180 hkd) fresh juicy crabmeat mixed with smoked caesar dressing, served with charred avocado and little gems! i simply fell in love with that couple – avocado with crabmeat! SOOO refreshing and light!

soldiers & egg. ($90 hkd) dip your toast into the golden mash of sea urchin and slow cooked duck’s egg! the sea urchin was SOOO fresh! and i loved the rich flavour of duck egg a lot! if i were at home, i would DEFINIETLY lick the bowl clean!

scotch egg. ($80 hkd) one of my MUST ORDER bar food! LOVE the sweet paprika aioli sauce with a hint of chilly taste drizzled on it.

slice of chocolate decadence. ($90 hkd) basically, that sinful slice was just like the outer solid part of chocolate fondant (if you know what i mean)! can be a bit MORE chocolaty to satisfy those chocoholics’ taste buds! plus i think everyone would prefer a scoop of ice cream on top of this irresistibly luscious treat instead of a dollop of cream, right?

sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. ($90 hkd) the BEEEST toffee pudding i had so far! no joking! can you imagine how the warm bath of brown sugar, molasses and butter cascaded onto the incredibly moist warmish gooey sponge cake that soaked up the glossy sauce? oh man! that’s called a PROPER toffee pudding!

sinmei tea – green tea paradise

i can live without everything… EXCEPT… green tea! you are like a drug to me. i’m totally addicted to you and simply can’t get enough of you. (that was clearly a total lie, i can’t live without my everything!) so here comes another hearty and warm cafe which is popular for their green tea desserts and green tea drinks!

matcha soul. incorporating green tea and soymilk, plus raisins and finally, decorated with osmanthus, almond flakes and honey. a warm and soothing drink. just the RIGHT drink to console my soul. not bad! but could be better if the matcha flavour was stronger!

green hot chocolate. with a pretty heart. a nice touch man! had totally made my day!

green tea loaf cake. it’s great that they warmed it up before serving. SOOO moist and soft with the delicate, mellow flavour of green tea.

green tea cheesecake. it came in a TEENY TINY piece which couldn’t really satisfy my green tea and cheesecake cravings! I coulda finished the thing in ONE WHOLE GULP. the meringue on top was so light and foamy. and the cheesecake was in a rich and firm but smooth and creamy texture. oh my! can you imagine it melting slowly on your tongue? the velvety cheesy flavour and the delicate matcha taste with a hint of bitterness LINGERED ON every single taste bud of mine! oh my and they actually balanced each other SO well that none of them dominated another. that buttery base at the bottom gave the cheesecake some texture although it could be a bit more crumbly.

green tea angel cake. TADAAAH! one of my all time favourites! see that moist fluffy ultra spongy green tea cake topped with GENEROUS amount of green tea icing! GAWD it’s as soft as your butter-like lips, as fluffy as those pastel sugar clouds. always one of my must-order items!

green tea lava cake. their signature PRICY treat! baked to perfecto, and the moment when you dug your fork or knife or whatever into it, the thick green paste OOOOZED out in a beautiful and seductive manner. oh man! flavour-wise, i’ve to say it looked more alluring than it tasted. the white chocolate was way too sweet and thus covered the green tea flavour. was a bit upset about this actually.

houjicha lava cake. better than the green tea one since the strong roasted aroma of houjicha was more significant.

SIZZLING green tea brownie. WOAAAH! topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, served with green tea sauce and garnished with sprinkles of macadamia nuts, what more can I ask for? a little bit crumbly on the outside with a chewy dense fudgy moist centre! love the adding of nuts to give a different contrasting texture to the brownie! it’s just WAY TOO GOOOOOD! was craving for this ever since then.

meow! and theres this cutest pal ever – mithu, companying you during your time at sinmei tea!

everything green tea! #FTW

sweets rococo & café – great place for taking mouthwatering food photos

im absolutely a crazy fan of PANCAKES! especially for those THICK and FLUFFY ones! rococo’s beautifully presented pancakes and colourful mini roll cakes totally caught my eye, so i decided to pay a visit to this new japanese cafe after lunch with my friend.

it wasn’t a pleasant start when i was told that ALL mini roll cakes were SOLD OUT! i was like ‘WHAT THE HECK?! it’s just 14:30 and all the ten flavours were not available already?’ i was sooo upset and annoyed.  so finally the two of us ordered two pancakes.

berry berry pancake. two thick pieces of japanese style pancake topped with mixed berries, whipped cream and berry sauce. OH MYYY! how alluring it was! pancakes were fluffy, soft, moist and eggy. were hot when served, but were quickly cooled down by the chilled sauce, and thus becoming LESS appetising. the only thing i LOVE about this was the SAUCE! it was pretty good, not much artificial berry flavor (if you know what I mean), and luckily, more on the sour refreshing side instead of the sickenly sweet side. wish it could come with a scoop of ice cream rather a dollop of whipping cream.

photo 2-3

chocolate banana caramel nuts pancake. AHA! looks divine! but again, for $118 HKD per dish, i was looking for a EVEN BETTER QUALITY of pancakes. i can’t say they were bad, but totally NOT WORTH charging such price.

i actually love their environment a lot. so comfy, spacious, comfortable and princessy, definitely a great spot for afternoon CHATS, but not sure if it’s a good place for afternoon tea after all.

via tokyo – my kind of heaven!

i’m so obsessed with japanese soft serve these days. and THANK God, there’s this most popular and coolest cafe, locating in the heart of this city, serving authentic japanese frozen treat!

via tokyo specialises in matcha and milk soft serve, with a variety of traditional japanese toppings to go along with. my favourite ones are usually okome (which is basically a japanese version of rice krispie), azuki (red bean paste) and shiratama (chewy glutinous rice ball like mochi)!

matcha azuki parfait. milk soft serve at the bottom layer, followed by a generous amount of azuki bean paste, then finished off with macha soft serve and pieces mochi.

matcha affogato from the hidden menu! when LUKEWARM matcha latte met the COLD CREAMY FUDGY matcha soft serve! gawd! this was heavenly scrumptious! i just LOVE how dense, rich and intense the matcha flavour was! matchaholics! you surely cant ever miss this, can you?

love the mix flavour as well!!

if you are not a fan of matcha, go and try out their milk soft serve! you will be surprised at how LIGHT but full-flavoured this is!

besides having soft serve, you can always grab a cup of latte with perfect and CUTE latte art! this can totally make your day! see how cute this pom pom purin and totoro latte art were?!

and the long-awaited HOUJICHA soft serve will be officially launching SOON! the rich and robust houjicha taste, the seductively smooth and firm texture, the distinct aromatic roasted fragrance of this soft serve caught me completely off guard! each lick was simply amazing!! stay tuned for further updates!!
